This is a tribute to Konami's Castlevania Chronicles video game for the Sony Playstation. I made this for the Castlevania anniversary tribute that is holding. Here is a link to their website--> [link] <--
I do not own any rights to the Castlevania series in either part or whole. This work is purely intended as entertainment and for recreational purposes. Ayami Kojima is the original artist of the composition. The character's names that are shown in my work is Simon Belmont (In the foreground) and Mathias Cronqvist, better known as Dracula (in the background). the work is modeled after the game's cover art of which I used as my inspiration and guide. The work itself was done completely by hand in pencil.
Comments, questions, suggestions, and criticisms are most welcomed and requested.
I used watercolor paper. I had a very specified process to prepare that smooth crosshatch feel for it though. You see, before I even shaded the work, I took a white Prismacolored pencil and spread a layer over the whole paper. Interestingly, Prismacolored pencils have a smooth pasty texture to them and, if you put a light layer of it on the paper, it accentuates the patterns of the page as well as my shading strokes but it makes them smooth for blending too. I've experimented with it a few times and have tried adding a bit of water and colorless bender pencils to solidify this feel.
I was inspired to try and create this method because I would always get frustrated with the outcome of a scan. In real life it would be nice and neat but under the scrutinizing eye of a scan it emboldens the grainy texture that I just hate. >.< So, I spend some extra time just to please my odd compulsion. XD

Anyway, amazing art! I've always been a fan of the Castlevania series, sadly I've yet to play them all, but I think this is next on my list :3
Keep up the amazing work!
